Harold Turner, who gained many of his design ideas while working for Frank Lloyd Wright, did most of his independent work in Bloomfield Township from the late 1940s through the 1950s. Of the 20 Michigan properties surveyed 15 were built in Bloomfield Township.
In addition to the many houses he designed and built in the Bloomfield Area, Harold Turner and his wife Laura owned and operated the iconic Devon Gables Inn through 1967. Harold was also an instructor of sculpturing at the Birmingham Bloomfield Art Center on Cranbrook Rd. at 14 mile Rd. in the early 1960s.
